About Namal College
Under the leadership of
Imran Khan MDT have been vigorously engaged in implementing initiatives to address the Skills Development issue by providing Vocational Training to High School Graduates (10 or 12 years of schooling) in various skills areas, with emphasis on Engineering and Information Technology. The aim is to develop Namal College into a strong institution that will serve as the basis to developing a new University. The short/medium term plan is to establish a College in the area, with a long-term aim of developing the college into a world-class University, that can deliver high quality educational and training standards.
Initially, this Educational hub will service the under-developed areas of Mianwali, Chakwal, Bhakkar and Attock. However, the Vision for this institution is to become a 'Knowledge City' open to students from across Pakistan and beyond.
It is important to emphasise that given the lack of Technical Training available, Namal College will enormously benefit not only the Mianwali District but the whole of Pakistan. Over the long term, Namal College's "Knowledge City" concept can act as a best practice for other regions of Pakistan to leverage and extend its benefits nationally.
The people of the Mianwali District recognise the value of the Namal College Project and have already contributed about 40 acres of land for the institution. The land, a short distance outside the city of Mianwali, and on the main Highway, is on a gentle slope of a hill with a large lake at the bottom.
As part of Phase 1 of the project, the construction of the main building is well underway, the first of a complex of buildings planned. This is a two storey building, covering an area of 50,000 sq. ft. Construction work is also at an advanced phase complete the Staff and Student Accomodation premises.
Given the poverty of the people in the area, Namal College will subsidize majority of its students students, on the basis of need and merit, thus making education more accessible to students from the economically deprived families. This represents the huge challenge of continuously raising significant amount of funds to establish and run the College.
